Family connections in Lofoten started with three brothers Andreas, Daniel and Johan Danielsen who were born in Beitstad Nord-Trøndelag in the southern part of Norway. Andreas was the oldest and seems to have moved to Stamsund around 1870 and was the manager of the new Cod Fish Oil Factory on Tornholmen in the Stamsund Harbour. Andreas had a son Albert Andreassen with Elizabet Enoksdatter and then married Ingeborg Pettersdatter who was from Kvæfjord, Troms. Daniel Danielsen married Kornelia Sørensdatter from Lekvigen and Johan Danielsen married Marte Marie Sveinsdatter from Petvik in Hol. Between the three brothers they had sixteen children most still seem to have remained in Norway.
Andreas`s oldest son Albert Andreassen immigrated to New Zealand or Australia around 1892. Albert also fathered a child Peder Johan Albertsen in Stamsund. Dehardine married Johan Dahl and lived in Lødingen
Ragna married Gustav Simonsen in Canada and settled there.
The search for relatives and family history began in 2009 and was greatly assisted by Ann Lemon in Christchurch, Geir Rishaug, Lise Fagerbakk from Lofotposten, Ann Britt in Stamsund who all made the discoveries possible after a gap of 110 years.
