Little was know about Elizabet Enoksdatter apart from where she was born, two census around Lofoten. Elizabet was 35 and unmarried when she gave birth to my Great Grandfather Albert Andreassen in Stamsund and died in Svarholt 10 months after her son was married January 1900 in New Zealand. From all appearances she seemed to be an illegtimate child of her parents Marith Arentsdatter and Enok Johansen who may have been servants and came from a different area.
After getting lost after ready countless archives, I can`t quite remember the links leading to finding her ancestry, but one name lead to discovering that Elizabet was born on the Brunes Farm where her Grandparents Johan Christopher Olsen & Maren Svendsdatter Blix lived. The discovery was like opening a door I thought would never be found. The next morning an email from Vidar Johansen confirmed that Elizabet was related and her family tree had been recorded back to 1575.
I don`t know if Albert knew about any of his mother`s family, but at least now it is known even if it is has been over 100 years.
Engeloya is a remote Island in Steigen in side the Arctic Circle near the mainland. Relatives have been living on the Island for at least the last 435 years.
The family tree will be added in the future. If anyone would like to help photos of family and farms would be a great help.
