Our records don't record a street number when she was living in Castle Street. I don't see her listed in the Post Office directories around the date the spinning wheel was donated either (1929). I wonder if that means she was living with someone else - a relative maybe [I see a William Clark at 289 Castle Street]. According to cemetery records they were living in Walker Street when Hans died and she was residing in 36 Memorial Avenue, Timaru at the time of her own death.

The Caversham Project, Dunedin South
The Birth of Modern Times: 1890-1940 Between 1890 and 1940 some 90,000 people lived in Dunedin's southern suburbs. Spreading out over 'The Flat' they occupied distinctive suburban areas including Caversham - New Zealand's oldest and most densely populated working class community. Dunedin led the way as New Zealand's first major industrial centre. 'Modern' ways of organising work and society were pioneered here. The experience of the city's southern suburbs is a microcosm of what was happening across the country. Research by Otago University |
