If my family history has a Grand Quest with a remote chance of success it has to be finding my Paternal Grandfather. Some may consider it a fruitless exercise after 8 decades But like many quests the journey is just as important as the destination.
Most people have the luxury of knowing who their Parents and Grandparents are, for those that don`t it can leave a huge gap, TV programs like `Who do you think are` and `Missing pieces`demonstrate why it is important and relevant to future generations. Like thousands of others my father Jim Andreassend didn`t get that choice.
I am uploading all the information to Dad`s origins including time line, rumours, facts, comments, emails, documents, Sue Lee Garden, names of workers and NZ Society Chinese in Timaru, racial laws, NZ Politics and anything else I can think of, in order to attract interest from people who may hold that vital clue.
There are literally hundreds of documents & emails most have never been seen and to those that would prefer it stayed that way, all I will say is embrace it. You never know it just might change your outlook for the better.
