Otago Pioneer Museum records don`t show a street number when Kjersti was living in Castle Street and she isn`t listed in the Post Office directories around the date the spinning wheel was donated either (1929). Kjersti was probably living with her son`s family William Clark at 289 Castle Street. According to cemetery records they were living in Walker Street when Hans died and she was residing in 36 Memorial Avenue, Timaru at the time of her own death.
The house is opposite the Otago University notorious for student flats, as can be seen in Google street view, the house is run down with an appalling addition out the front. What could be a charming row of houses with connections to the history and forefathers of Dunedin is nothing more than an insult by the current generation of Students, Landlords and Dunedin City Council who let it happen.
